Thanks for nothing Ron's Electric!
I was out of town and in a dire need for an electrician to come out to my vacation rental to troubleshoot the tripping of the breakers at my vacation rental. Ron came out and said I needed a new air conditioner (mine was less than a year old), since the compressor was going bad, and it was tripping the breaker. He charged me $125 for the service call, and his diagnosis was absolutely incorrect. We had renters there at the time, so we needed a new air conditioner. Since I was out of town, I had a friend go to Lowes and buy a new one, to the tune of $500 + dollars. The friend installed the new room air conditioner, and it was also tripping the breaker on each and every plug in the house.
I called Ron back and his solution was to piggyback another panel to split up the electric service. He told me to be sitting down when he called with the estimate, because it wasn't going to be cheap! He didn't connect with the renters, who were advised that he was coming at 8am on a Saturday, and wasn't let in. I was 800 miles away, so I could not be there to let him in. Thank goodness he called to let me know that I needed to find another electrician and he never came back! We are out $125 for his service call for the "diagnosis" (glad he's not a doctor), and $500 for the new air conditioner, since it can't be returned because it is used.

Another electrician saved the day. He met with my husband and did more trouble shooting, and determined that it was a BAD TRANSFORMER. That electrician called the electric company, and they immediately came out and replaced it. The electric service is working just fine now, and we did not need an upgrade, or to spend additional money to purchase the new air conditioner.
